The crucifix is an important Christian symbol. An ancient Spanish Bible.

Hola! Our names our Maddox, Simon, Derek, and Gavin. Today we will be looking at the culture of Spain. We will be visiting the Palma Cathedral, which is a huge tourist attraction and serves religious purposes. But what religions are practiced in Spain? The most prevalent religion in Spain is Roman Catholic, the Cristian church ruled by the Pope. Christians spread in during the time of the Roman Empire. The new religion reached the Iberian Peninsula, which now contains the countries of Spain and Portugal. Christianity spread throughout Spain and many countries in Europe around this time, and became the dominant religion after the fall of the Roman Empire. Spain also spread Christianity to the colonies and territories it had conquered all over the world. This helped Catholicism spread to many countries in the new world.

But Spain wasn't always Catholic. Shortly after Christianity had taken over Spain, a group of people called Moors from Northern Africa conquered Spain. They converted many Spaniards into Muslims. Eventually, the Moors were driven out and Christianity was again the religion of Spain. Christianity was the only religion practiced in Spain for many centuries. In 1978, Spain allowed freedom of religion. Many other religions such as Islam and Judaism have slowly spread, along with atheism. Now, around sixty-eight point five percent of Spain is still Roman Catholic. Christianity is very popular throughout Spain!
